Lyceum goes to MOA for Tribute to Teachers

This is a scanned copy from Manila Bulletin dated October 27, 2008. This was sent by Dr. Munoz of DLSU-Manila. Basically, a write up of what we did at MOA. I was with 10 students, representing Lyceum of the Philippines - Laguna.

Another article can be viewed here from Inquirer. I laughed when I saw it because the estimate of the number of messages per cheesecloth spread came from me. Dr. Munoz asked me to help her estimate the number of messages, and I quipped, "About 150-200 messages, because some of the messages were really very small". So, there. They took it as if the numbers came from the Oracle at Delphi. Anyways. I did not know that the person interviewing her was from Inquirer so there.

6 Signs That You Are Failing the Subject (in College)

How will you know if you won't make it, no matter what you do?

Number 6. Your teacher fails to call your name anymore in the attendance roll. (You: Mam, nakalimutan n'yo po ako.... Ah, you. You: Present po!)

Number 5. When you ask your teacher, "Papasa ba ako?", she looks away and says, "...Moving on..."

Number 4. Out of the blue, she says, "Padala mo resume mo sa akin ha? Baka maipasa ko sa mga kakilala ko".

Number 3. She asks one of your classmates to do a special project. When you ask for one, she says, "Could you buy one set of Encyclopedia Britannica?"

Number 2. After giving out the midterm exams, she says, "Ahmm... those who still want to drop my subject, please go to Ms. Aileen. Baka me refund pa."

And the number one sign that your are failing in your subject... (drum roll)

Number 1. She looks at you intently after telling you to remain after class... and says to you: "Talaga bang Nursing ang gusto mo?"

Consequent upon LIT's Vision and Mission is its sworn duty and obligation to educate and
train the youth within its sphere of influence, towards the love of God and country. The
notion of leadership, and this under the auspices of Jose P. Laurel's ideals, necessarily
follows.

At present, there are twenty-one (21) student organizations in LIT. They are composed of four (4) school councils, eight (8) academic related organizations, three (3) cultural groups, five (5) interest groups, and one (1) scholarship group. Added to this is the school council of the BSN students, whose first and second years are spent in LIT.

On November 28, 2007, a Wednesday, thirty (30) student leaders from these different groups met at the Laurel Ancestral House in Tanauan. The latter is now being taken cared of by LIT in coordination with the Laurel Memorial Foundation.

The activity started at 8:00 AM, at the Tanauan venue, with the arrival of the student delegates from LIT. Some of the students went straight to th...  (litosa101612.multiply.com)

Our Philosophy of Education

Our Philosophy of Education

We are committed in the role of education in the social transformation. We receive the child in reverence because we believe that every child given to us is endowed with capabilities and unique personalities and gifts. We envision the person that he is capable of becoming, and help him/her realize this through the education process.

Vision Statement

We envision an intellectually confident, emotionally mature, goal-oriented, mission directed individual, who is an apostle, a defender of the Christian truth and ideals, and a patriotic citizen who stands proud of his Filipino heritage and an agent of social transformation towards the betterment of humanity.

Mission Statement.

In our love for wisdom and our faith in the power of education to transform society, we are committed to providing an education that is:

· centered in the love of God

· inflamed with deep love for the country

· focused on the innate abilities and natural inclinations of the learner

· geared towards the development of the total person: his intellectual, psychological, emotional, moral, social and physical powers

· aimed towards the formation of a conscientious, proactive, and law-abiding citizens of our country

· prepares the learner to face the various problems and realities of life

When I put up my school, these are the core beliefs:

Deus. Intellectus. Conscientia. Voluntas. Actio.

Multiplying numbers

This is what I taught Angela and her classmates last year. The one she taught to her older cousin, who taught her teacher in a public school in Malolos.

Some people might think it is better to just do it the long way - the traditional way. But it is kinda cool to do it this way. More so if the numbers get bigger. Like if there are 12 digits etc. which could not fit in a calculator.

I don't know what it's called (Lattice square? whatever). I picked it up from Dr. Joey from UPLB, during a seminar with FHMS and Ayala Centex.
